Italo Calvino once wrote that: 'the City does not tell its past, but contains the lines of a hand, written in corners of the streets, the gratings of windows, the banisters of steps, the antennae of the lightening rods, the poles of the flags, every segment in turn with scratches, indentations, scrolls'...

If the fabric of the urban environment is viewed as a text, these memory plaques (amongst other ideas) begin to record some of the many stories that the city's overlooked spaces could tell.
